Amanda Blake - Bio, Facts Family

Amanda Blake, born Beverly Louise Neill on February 20, 1929 and died August 16, 1989. She was an American actress most well-known for her role as Miss Kitty Russell, a red-haired saloon owner in Gunsmoke. Amanda Blake first appeared onscreen in the 1950 film 'Stars In My Crown'. She was also in the films 'Duchess of Idaho" and "Counterspy Meets Scotland" that year. Following this, she was part of the drama 'Schlitz Playhouse of the Stars'. The American actress was offered the opportunity to appear in the 1953 film 'Lili' as well as 'Sabre Jet. The following year she did some films, including 'Miss Robin Crusoe' 'About Mrs. Leslie', 'A Star Is Born', and 'The Adventures of Hajji Baba'. Amanda Blake was born as Beverly Louise Neill on February 20th, 1929 in Buffalo, New York, USA to parents Jesse and Louise. She graduated from Claremont High School and Pomona College. In 1954, the actress got married to Don Whitman. Following the couple's divorce, in the year following, Blake moved on to get married to Jason Day in 1964. The American beauty, Frank Gilbert, was divorced from Jason Day as well. Unfortunately, the relationship with her third husband was short-lived. Then in 1984, she was married Mark Spaeth and a year later, he passed away. Amanda Blake, a heavy chain smoker was diagnosed with oral cancer in 1977 and had the surgery. At the Mercy General Hospital of California in Los Angeles, she died the 16th of August, 1989.
