Sofia Vergara
Sofia Vergara, a Colombian model, later moved to America to work as
a host for Univision. In 2000, she
began film acting. She became a household
star with her Emmy-nominated role as Gloria DelgadoPritchett on the hit
sitcom Modern Family. Hot Pursuit, Happy Feet Two and Happy Feet Two were other
projects she worked on.
Career and early life
Sofia Vergara, a Colombian
girl, was born to a large Colombian family in Barranquilla on July 10, 1972. Vergara learned English after studying dentistry and at
bilingual elementary schools. Vergara was
found on a sandy beach and captured by a photographer. She got her start on the
screen in a Pepsi advertisement. Vergara
was then a model for Mexican Telenovelas and eventually became a star.
Vergara, who moved from
Spain to America in the mid-1990s, would host the travel show Fuera de Serie
and the variety program A Que No Te Atreves. An English-speaking audience also noticed Vergara's brief,

Vergara made her debut in

to play the role of Gloria DelgadoPritchett in Modern Family's sitcom Modern

with Witherspoon. Vergara was also seen as
Vergara on The Female Brain. Vergara was
also a voice actor in The Emoji Movie, which came out in 2017. She then switched gears to star in the 2018 thriller Bent,
and the 2017 baseball drama Bottom of the 9th.

Vergara was the first to see
the fruits of financial success before she became the highest-paid television
actress. She co-founded Latin World
Entertainment in 1994.
The actress launched her own
Kmart clothing line in 2011. Three years later, she launched a perfume and
jewelry line. Walmart was her partner in
launching a denim line in 2019.
Personal Life
In 2000, Vergara was
diagnosed with thyroid cancer by an endocrinologist. She has had surgery and radiation therapy since then.
Vergara now takes medication every day to manage her metabolism. Vergara founded a foundation in Colombia to help families
affected by cancer.
Vergara, her childhood
sweetheart, married Joe Gonzalez in 1993 and had a son Manolo (in 1992). Vergara and Joe Gonzalez separated in 1993. Vergara wed Nick Loeb in July 2012, an American co-owner of
a film production company. Vergara and
Loeb ended their relationship in May 2014.
Vergara and Loeb got into a
legal dispute in 2015. Loeb sued Vergara
over control of frozen embryos she and Loeb created during their marriage. Vergara claimed that he was going to destroy them. She denied the accusation. Vergara stated that she was happy to freeze embryos
indefinitely in a statement she made to People magazine.
Vergara started dating Joe
Manganiello (True Blood, Magic Mike hunks) shortly after the breakup. Vergara got engaged to Manganiello in December 2014. She also revealed that she was granted American citizenship
during a Jimmy Kimmel Live appearance.
