Jacqueline Fernandez (born 11 August 1985) is a Sri Lankan actress, former model, and winner of the Miss Universe Sri Lanka pageant in 2006. She is a model and actress who primarily works in Hindi films. Jacqueline Fernandez was born on 11 August 1985 in Manama, Bahrain, and was raised in a multi-ethnic home. Her father, Elroy Fernandez, is a Sri Lankan Burgher, and her mother, Kim, is of Malaysian and Canadian descent. Her paternal grandfather is Canadian as are her paternal great grandparents, who hail from Goa, India. She was in the music video for "O Sathi" which is a hit song from the music duo Bathiya & Santhush. In 2009, Fernandez traveled to India for a modeling assignment. She auditioned successfully for Sujoy Ghosh's fantasy movie Aladin (2009) her acting debut. She played Riteish Deshmukh’s love interest, that is based on Princess Jasmine's character. In 2017, Fernandez made a bet of in the amount of Rs35 million (US$490,000) in Rakyan Beverages' Raw Pressery. Fernandez was ranked twelfth in the UK magazine Eastern Eye’s "World's Sexiest Asian Ladies" list in both 2008 and 2011. Fernandez was ranked third on the Times of India's list of the "Most Desirable Woman" in 2013 and 2014, after being placed eighth, seventh and 14th, respectively, over the previous three years. In 2013, Rediff.com placed her on their list of "Bollywood's Best Dressed Actresses. According to the company, Fernandez is India's first star to have part-financed a consumer goods firm with this investment.
