Don Rickles Biography

Don Rickles was an American stand up comedian as well as an author and actor. He was among the most admired and well-known entertainers. He was a combination of wit and humor, as well as his genuine love for his audience which led to him becoming a magnet for laughter, enjoyment, and amusement. Because of his ability to make an insult appear funny and uninvolved and a frequent participant in celebrity roasts. His crude and hurtful remarks attracted attention however the person receiving them would always be laughing. He started his career as a regular comedian who performed rehearsed jokes. But, he realized that audiences loved his impromptu jokes more than his planned material. He won many admirers among them Frank Sinatra. He also appeared in several TV and film productions. He also produced two comedy albums. He was honored with many awards such as a Lifetime Achievement' award at the 'The Comedy Awards. His style of insult comedy earned him many nicknames, such as  The Merchant of Venom' 'The Insultan,' 'Mr. Don Rickles was only able to land small television roles following his graduation. His stand-up comedy began as an opportunity to earn income and he eventually developed his "insult comedian" brand. He played a key role in Clint Eastwood's 1970 film that became a hit Kelly's Heroes (1970). He also appeared on television comedy shows like "The Don Rickles' (1972) or "The Dean Martin Roasts" (1973). Barbara Sklar, Don Rickles's wife, was married to him on March 14 in 1965. The couple had two kids, Mindy and Larry. Their son died on December 31, 2011. Bob Newhart was his best friend and he often vacationed with his wife. They were on various shows including "Newhart" and Don Rickles passed away from kidney disease at his Beverly Hills home on April 6, 2017.
