Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actor and presenter. Vergara was the highest-paid actress on American television between 2013 to 2020.Vergara gained notoriety when hosting two television shows for Spanish-language television channel Univision in the latter part of the 1990s. Chasing Papi (2003) was the first big acting performance for Vergara in English. Then, she was in Four Brothers (2006) and Tyler Perry's comedy Jail (2008). She was nominated for an ALMA Award for the former. Vergara's mom Margarita Vergara De Vergara was a domestic worker, and her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as a cattle rancher in meat industry. Her nickname was "Toti" by her five siblings and numerous cousins. Vergara was originally a student at the National University of Colombia in dentistry. She left after two years to pursue opportunities in modeling and show business.
