Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff was born 3 May 1986. She studied at the Cours Florent drama school in Paris and has appeared in films like Loup (2009), Sleepless Night (2011) and Hacker's Game (2015). She portrays the role of Mantis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (1999). Pom Klementieff was the child of an Korean mother, as well as a French-Russian father. Her father was consul in Quebec City, Canada. Eugene Klementieff, a painter, was her grandfather. Her parents chose the name "Pom" because it is similar in pronunciation to the Korean words for "spring" and "tiger". Klementieff lived for a year in Canada before her family moved around extensively because of her father's work. After moving to France, Klementieff lived in Japan. Klementieff's father, who died at the age of 5 from cancer was her mother. Additionally, she suffered from schizophrenia and couldn't care for her kids. Klementieff was raised with her aunt and paternal uncle. Her uncle, who she called "like her father" passed away at the age of age 18. Klementieff's older brother who took his own life seven years later, was her aunt. After the passing of her uncle, Klementieff attended law school briefly to impress her aunt. However, she didn't feel that the field was attractive to her. She was also salesperson and waitress in France. She began acting at the age of 19 in the Cours Florent drama school in Paris. It was only three months into studying when she was awarded the competition to be a part of the theater that provided her free two-years of classes with the best teachers at the school. Her first acting gig professionally was in the French independent film Apres lui (2007), portraying the stepdaughter of the main character which was played by Catherine Deneuve. The filming took place over three days to capture her scenes. Klementieff was to push another person up a set staircase however she fell down. Gael Mostl kept the footage in the film. Loup (2009) was her first film leading role. It is an French movie that tells the story of a tribe of Siberian mountain reindeer herders. She filmed for hours in an isolated camp away from the nearest village. The temperatures dropped to minus zero while filming.
